Sigma Makeup Palettes

As my work wholesales Sigma Products, it was very kind of Sigma to send us the new makeup palettes for us to try. I was so excited to receive a package from them and it truly felt like a Christmas in July!

Here are my first impressions photos taken from my iPhone (I didn't have my camera with me at the studio today :( ). Swatches and review will be coming shortly. The packaging is really nice and quite sturdy and is very similar to the Urban Decay Naked Palette. Each palette comes with a double ended brush: a shader brush and blending brush. For $35 USD it's not too bad in terms of pricing, but I guess I will truly know once I've had a play.

'Bare', 'Dare' and 'Flare' (Top to Bottom)

The Sigma 'Bare' Palette is the perfect everyday neutral kit that has the nearly nude colors to the blackest black. There is a really gorgeous shimmery black on the far left that I can't wait to try!

Note: you will notice below the palette is missing a brush as I must have misplaced the brush somewhere!!

Sigma 'Bare' Palette
The 'Dare' palette is full of interesting colors including a bright mustard yellow which is a really unusual color that I have not seen anything really similar to it at all. This palette would be perfect for those who suit warmer colors. These colors probably would not suit my skin tone but nevertheless, I am sure to have clients that would look gorgeous in these colors.

Sigma 'Dare' Palette

The 'Flare' palette is perfect for those with cooler skin tones. The color second from the left, 'Oversee' looks really pretty as well as, 'Allure' which is second from the right. This palette has a mix of neutrals and brights that would make for a really versatile palette to have.

Sigma 'Flare' Palette

If anyone has tried out these palettes, I would love to know your thoughts/ feelings/ opinions. I have only had a quick play with the 'Bare' palette with a client and so far I am pretty impressed but I will save my review for when I have had a good play with the palettes.

Talk to you all soon xx

Outfit of the Day (OOTD): Classic Trench

Here's my first Outfit of the Day Post. What better way to begin with a timeless classic: the trench coat. Weather was awful today! :( All rain and no sunshine so I definitely felt weatherproof yet still classy in this outfit (though my shoes weren't that happy with the weather!)

I feel that there's no better investment in your wardrobe than a trench coat. A classic style, that will never date is something that is definitely worth investing in! I love the pleating at the back of the trench which makes it really interesting an unusual.

I added a belt to the outfit to give it a bit of "reworking" and to create an interesting element to a neutral outfit. The belt also defined my waist avoiding that shapeless feeling that you can get from wearing a big winter coat. I feel that with the neutral heels your attention goes straight to the belt and you look wonderfully elongated.

Teamed with the classic red lip and a high ponytail, its a classic style that will never date.

Glamorazzi Fashion Parade

Its a bit of a belated post but I am just kicking off my new blog so what better way than to relive a great event. As part of the Chinese New Year Celebrations online fashion store "Glamorazzi" hosted a fashion parade in the heart of China Town in Adelaide. It was very exciting to be the stylist for the event and I got to work with some really great people and meet a bunch of really great girls.

The parade was to not only celebrate Chinese New Year but to launch Glamorazzi's Summer/Autumn11 collection. There were some really great items that would make great staple items for any girls' wardrobe.

This parade was featured in Glam Adelaide with one of my fave outfits styled by yours truly featured in the article! You can check out the full article here.

BTW you might like to check out Glamorazzi's online store here. They sell OPI nail polishes that are way cheaper than Australian RRP. Plus if you order 3 bottle I believe the offer free shipping!

Hair of the day (HOTD): All Roped Up

I was having a bad hair day so the best way to solve it is to do an up do. This look that I created was actually quite easy to do as it was just a matter of creating several braids and styling it into the desired style. It took a bit of adjusting to get my hair to how I wanted it to be but apart from that, this hairstyle only took about 10 minutes an a hell of a lot of bobby pins. Hope you all like it

Eye of The Day (EOTD): Lucky in Love

This is a makeup look I created for my anniversary with my boyfriend. I used bright pinks and purples for a romantic but eye catching effect. This bright look contrasted well with my monochromatic outfit.

Eye Products used:
    • Too Faced Shadow Insurance
    • MAC Seedy Pearl
    • MAC Nocturnelle
    • Inglot 395
    • Inglot 449
    • Clinique brush-on cream liner in True Black
    • Clinique lash power mascara in Black

MAC Face and Body Foundation: A Review

image
Approximately 3 weeks ago I purchased MAC Face and Body Foundation. After 3 weeks of using this product, I can confidently say that this is truly my favorite foundation of the moment.
Anyone who knows me well will understand how hard it is for me to find a foundation to match my skin color. I have a very yellow complexion and most yellow based foundations are still too pink for my skin! I am a big fan of MAC foundations as their colors have always suited my skin well.
For those who have not heard of MAC Face and Body Foundation, this amazing product is a water-based, waterproof light foundation that gives a flawless finish and is almost like a second skin. As the name suggests, this foundation can also be used on the body, especially on photo shoots for makeup artists.
If you love a full coverage foundation, STOP READING, as MAC Face and Body provides a sheer coverage that will do nothing for your complexion. But if you’re curious why I am in love with this foundation, feel free to continue
This product is hard to find if purchasing in Australia. It can only be found at a MAC Pro store or the MAC online store. As far as I am aware the only two Pro stores are in Sydney and Melbourne and there is quite a big risk attached to purchasing foundation online. I am usually a MAC NC30 and got a C4 in the Face and Body.
My first impressions of the Face and Body were quite positive, $60AUD for a 120mL bottle of professional quality foundation is extremely good value where most drugstore brand foundations (Revlon, Maybelline etc) can cost around $20AUD for only 30mL. So if you do your math, its definitely better value.
The foundation itself is quite watery as it is a water based foundation and does have the tendency to separate if you leave it sitting for a long period of time without use. Therefore, it is important to shake the bottle well before use to thicken the foundation and mix the formula together.
The best way to apply this foundation is with a foundation brush or your fingers to get an even natural coverage. Due to the watery consistency, sponges will soak up the product too quickly, causing you to waste a lot of product. Also stippling brushes will not pick up enough product to give you an even coverage.
This foundation has a really pleasant scent that is very fresh smelling and almost citrus-like. Its light texture is cooling on the skin and is almost refreshing to apply. MAC Face and Body is buildable and if there are areas that you need more coverage you can apply a second coat without your face looking cakey. However, the coverage will still be light and will not cover large blemishes or imperfections (though a concealer would normally be used for this anyways). The dewy finish of MAC Face and Body gives your face a healthy and natural glow that I absolutely love rather than a matte finish.
This foundation is perfect for those with dry or combination skin types and gives a light everyday coverage. Since wearing this foundation I have received several compliments about how clear my skin looks and many not even realising that I was wearing foundation.
My only concern about this foundation is the lack of SPF which means I have to wear a moisturizer with SPF coverage or suncreen to protect my skin. Also if you have oily skin, the natural glow of Face and Body and the shine from your own skin may be too overpowering and make you face look overly greasy.
Overall, MAC Face and Body gives a light and natural coverage to your face, similar to that of a tinted moisturizer but with a dewy and fresh glow. I would strongly recommend this product to anyone who loves a bit of coverage on their skin to even it out but doesn’t like the cakiness that many foundations can give.

Zara in Sydney

image
It must have been fate, my trip to Sydney coincided with the opening of Zara’s first store in Australia. Giving in to my love for European fashion my boyfriend kindly obliged to accompany me, and lined up with me in the cold and rain with many other fashionistas and others who were just plain nosy to see what the craze was all about. With 3 levels of fast fashion in front of me as I entered Zara, I almost had to wipe the drool from the corner of my mouth. Despite the fact that all of the styles were from the trends of Spring 11, this did not stop a single woman nor the metrosexual male from snatching up the spring brights and floral prints that were trended straight from the runway.
Whilst my dedicated boyfriend proceeded to line up for me in the muddled chaos for the changing rooms I swiftly snatched up all the items I had my eye on whilst lining up. By the time I had finished I was in prime position to try on my findings.
Waiting to try the clothes on I began to observe my surroundings, the opening of Zara had brought out the woman’s inner scavenger where groups of them were picking at the near empty carcasses of the hanging racks. Others with extreme enthusiasm simply began changing in the middle of the store to avoid having to line up in the ever lengthening line to the changing rooms.
Overall my trip was a success resulting in the purchase of a top, 2 jackets and a vest. In terms of comparison to other Australian chainstores, I believe Zara has a real chance in the Australian market. With reasonable and at times cheaper prices similar to that of Esprit, Witchery and Country Road and the Runway to Store speed that no other brand can compete with, this will just be the beginning for the Spanish chainstore in Australia. Perhaps the success of the Spaniards in Australia will extend from Nadal’s 09 Australian Open win and become something that will increase the competitiveness in the currently overpriced and slow moving Australian Fashion Industry.
